Kodi:: Its no surprise that Midnight Movies are from California. Their sound has the hazy, sun-soaked feel of a walk on the beach under heavy sedation, with guitars that drift like distant clouds, and singer Gena Oliviers vocals floating like a summer breeze. The band is indebted to classic West Coast psychedelia on the order of the Jefferson Airplane, but it also bears the arty influence of My Bloody Valentine and the Velvet Underground. All of these elements and more can be heard on the groups sophomore effort Lion The Girl.
